What do government changes to planning mean?

The planning process is one that has been notoriously bureaucratic and behind the times. However, with most workplaces still closed, organisations have had little choice but to take business online and adapt to new ways of working, including local authorities. So what has changed in planning and viability since then?

The housing market reopens: what next?

The welcome news that the housing market was to reopen came on 13th May, as the government announced the first steps towards easing the lockdown’s practical restraints. What has happened since and what are the predictions for the next few months?

What’s the outlook for student housing after COVID-19?

Amidst a global pandemic that no one saw coming, events all over the world cancelled or postponed and students currently being taught exclusively online, the once seemingly untouchable student housing market has a whole new realm of challenges. We’re looking at the latest within the student housing sector and the considerations experts and educational institutions must now face.

What to expect from an LD Events conference

Something we often get asked at LD Events is what exactly can be expected from a day attending one of our conferences. We know that agendas can be difficult to visualise, and you’ll want to get the most out of attending, so here’s a rundown of what you can expect on the day.

Market analyses, political overviews and opinion polls

We regularly host property market research experts with the latest opinion polls around consumer confidence and behaviour, statistics on UK housing situations and market growth, providing an overview on the current climate and highlighting the opportunities and challenges presenting themselves within the industry.

We’re also lucky to welcome political experts from time to time, providing updates on the current political and economic environment and how this is impacting property as a whole, as well as more granularly region to region.

Expert perspectives

One aspect that our delegates tell us they find the most interesting about attending our property conferences is the variety of different perspectives brought to the event. You can expect to hear presentations, seminars and panel discussions involving experts from the following areas:

  • Investment
  • Development
  • Construction
  • Manufacture
  • Design
  • Planning
  • Marketing and sales
  • Technology and innovation

As well as opportunities to pose questions to the experts, speakers will utilise case studies and real-life examples to draw upon for further insight, and you can also expect forward-thinking sessions that focus on how technology and innovation is changing the way we design and build.

Refreshments and networking

Each of our conferences attract hundreds of delegates from across the UK, EU and worldwide, so we make plenty of time for networking between talks and discussions, encouraging attendees to make connections that can be mutually beneficial for their line of work. A typical day at one of our conferences will present networking opportunities upon arrival, during the mid-morning session, around lunchtime and as the event draws to a close, with a post-conference drinks reception.

And, of course, we’ll ensure you are well looked after throughout the day, with a variety of refreshments you can help yourself to. Expect teas, coffee, smoothies and pastries in the morning, with canapes and light bites to see you through until lunchtime, where there will be nutritious options to suit everyone.

Our next events are just around the corner. We’ll be hosting the Student Housing Conference 2019 on Tuesday 14th May and the Site Finding and Development Conference 2019 on Tuesday 21st May. You can book your place for any of our conferences here.
